Canada offers 2 types of criminal record certificates which have their own specific uses. It is the responsibility of the applicant to make the decision on which specific certificate will best suit the requirements/needs. It is important that applicant verifies with the authority that is requesting the criminal background check to ensure the acceptance of the type of certificate that is ordered.

Generally, for all immigration, citizenship, Passport issue and security clearances, RCMP Certified Criminal Record Verification Certificate (Fingerprint based) will be used. Whereas RCMP Criminal record Check (Name Check will be useful for employment, business license and rental/lease etc.

 

1.    RCMP CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK (NAME CHECK)

(Available within few hours or 24 hours maximum.)

 Applicant’s name and date birth is compared through Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) and if no match is found a certificate is issued, stating so. But if a match is found, further investigation is required, and a fingerprint-based check will need to be done.

 

Fingerprints Plus has a Memorandum of Understanding, duly signed with Police Services and offers this service to provide you with “Guaranteed Same Day Criminal Record Certificate”. We will refund the fee if we fail to provide you with this service with 24 hours.

2.      APOSTILLE SERVICES

 

Canada became a signatory to the Hague Convention on the Apostille on January 11, 2024. Fingerprints Plus has been offering document authentication services since 2003. We are continuing to offer these services, now in the form of Apostille Service as well as Authentication Services from the non-convention member countries where needed.

 

If you are requiring your criminal record certificate to receive an Apostille, please indicate with your request for the certificate. If you have other documents that require an apostille, please write to the following address with details of the documents and the country for which the Apostille is required. Please note that we can only process apostille for the documents that are issued in Canada. For more information, please contact us at the following email.

4. We will get back to you with time and cost information. In some cases we might need a copy of your passport. We will give you that information in our email.

 

3.    RCMP CERTIFIED CRIMINAL RECORD VERIFICATION CERTIFICATE (Fingerprint Submission)

(RCMP processes within 72 hours) + delivery by regular mail.

 

This certificate offers the highest level of criminal record verifications in Canada. Applicant Name, date of birth and fingerprints are compared with the National Criminal Records Repository database maintained by the RCMP and a certificate is issued based on the results. It usually takes between 8-10 business days for a person with no criminal record, to receive the results within Canada from the date when the fingerprints were submitted.

 

Fingerprints Plus offers a simplified and error free fingerprint submission   system:

 

·       Our online system creates forms based on your entered data which are checked for accuracy by us and the applicant. This reduces/eliminates typo errors.

·        You are requested to make the payment. An online link is provided where you may use any major credit card to make the payment.

o   Fee: $121.00

o   Government Fee: $25 (If applicable)

o   Courier Fee (By Quote if Fingerprints Plus is picking up the documents and/or delivering the certificate/other documents)

 

·     The forms are then sent by an email to you. If you already completed the fingerprints on some other forms, our fingerprint form can be ignored but other requirements must be met.

 

·   We review your application and fingerprinted forms to ensure completeness and whether quality is acceptable. Saves time and repeat courier costs.

 

·        We offer discounted courier services to ensure that you are receiving best prices from your local courier services.

 

·   We offer you an opportunity to ask RCMP to send your results to Fingerprints Plus. We will scan and send you soft copy on the same day we receive the results. This saves you time and you have an opportunity to receive the hard copy results from us with a trackable courier.

 

Please note that this service is not available for applications under “personal use” …. This application type is mainly used for USA Green Card Applications. Results under this application type must go back to the applicant.

 

·  Unlike most other countries where there’s only one application type for a criminal record certificate, Canada offers different application types depending on the use of the certificate. For example, some of the different uses are:

4.    How is the RCMP Criminal Record Verification Certificate delivered: 

RCMP delivers the certificate by regular mail service through Canada Post. No other form of delivery service is currently available.

 

5.    Who can receive the certificate from RCMP?

a.    Individual

If this option is selected, the RCMP will send the results to an address provide by the individual. An individual may have a different mailing address than their current address.

 

Please note that having a different mailing address option is not available for applications under “personal use” …. This application type is mainly used for USA Green Card Applications. Results under this application type must go back to the applicant’s address.

 

b.    Third Party:

Applicant provides an authorization for the RCMP to send the results to a third party.

 

c.    Fingerprints Plus

Applicant provides an authorization for the RCMP to send the results to Fingerprints Plus. 

                                                             i.      Fingerprints Plus will forward you a soft copy of the certificate on the same day it receives the certificate from RCMP…. No Charge

                                                           ii.      Perform the Apostille Services process if this the requirement of the applicant. Otherwise move on to the next step.

                                                         iii.      Fingerprints Plus offers to the following options to receive the original certificate:

1.     Send you a discounted courier quote.

2.    Keep the original certificate in a safe for 1 year, and you can either have it picked up or send your own courier label.

 

6.    How to start the process:

a.     Register online and complete your profile.

b.    Log in and complete your application.

c.     Wait for an email to continue with the next step. Usually within 24 hours or less.

d.    At each step of the way, you will receive detailed instructions to complete the rest of the process.

 

You will find our notes very helpful and easy to follow. At the end you will receive an error free certificate in a very timely manner.
